Farming & Forestry: online training event, 12 February 11.00am

Mike Strachan (Scottish Forestry, Operations and Development Officer) sits on the committee of the UK Farm Woodland Forum and is a member of the European Agroforestry Federation.  At this event he will be speaking about the opportunities to improve Farm and Forestry integration that will provide a wide range of benefits to Farmers.  A key benefit will of course be shelter - we are aware that over 30,000ha of woodland grazing is claimed annually by Farmers. It is not just shelter though. Other benefits can be identified: such as creating ground cover for increased biodiversity which can then improve crop pollination; opportunities to diversify such as woodland hens where there is a premium on eggs; woodland grazing; sporting income; surface water management and of course the timber.

Don’t miss this opportunity to see how your community woodland could benefit from incorporating farming as well as forestry!
