The benefits of the iNaturalist App for Woodland groups
iNaturalist, in the opinion of our presenter, Rhyddian Knight, is a very accessible means for woodland users to record nature based sightings. The mobile phone has become a ubiquitous item, in the pocket or rucksack of most of the population. As such, the app is an extremely user friendly tool for promoting citizen science. It can also serve as a repository for data collected at specialist events in a format that can be easily viewed and interacted with by the public.
In this session participants will:
Gain an understanding of how to set up a geolocated iNaturalist project for their community woodland
Learn how Glenan Wood uses the application and how the Cowal rainforest restoration project uses the data as part of its umbrella project
Learn how to personally use the app to make observations and how woodland users can contribute to a project
