Borders Forest Trust: Wild Heart Project Officer

Borders Forest Trust (BFT) is a leading Scottish conservation charity, which has been restoring native woodland, and associated natural habitats, for the benefit of both nature and people for more than twenty-five years. Over that time BFT have planted more than 2 million native trees across the South of Scotland. The majority of these trees have been planted on BFT owned “Wild Heart” land at Carrifran, Corehead and Talla & Gameshope in the Central Southern Uplands.

The Wild Heart Project Officer is a new post, established to support the delivery of a range of engagement/participation and habitat/site enhancement activities in BFT’s Reviving the Wild Heart project.  The post holder will be part of a small, enthusiastic and dynamic team and have the opportunity to contribute to restoring native woodlands and reviving woodland culture in some of the most beautiful ‘wilderness’ of south of Scotland working with a broad range of people and organisations. The work will involve a balance between office and outdoor work, requiring someone with a mix of skills including exceptional communication (including IT and social media skills), coordination and interpersonal skills; and an aptitude and passion for ‘hands on’ outdoor conservation, wildlife monitoring and recording and working with people.
